If you’re re-doing your Saturn’s headliner, you’ll probably be re-doing your sun visors. This is how I re-upholstered mine about 12 years ago. They still look great.
You will need:
1. Headliner fabric.
Headliner fabric has a foam backing and it’s stretchy.
Or, you can get creative and use any kind of fabric you want. Visors would be easy to cover with any fabric.
2. Thin cardboard.
The visors innards are made of cardboard. The cardboard should be thin because it will be sewn through. (I used FedEx legal size envelopes).
3. Headliner adhesive.
Choose a quality adhesive that will withstand high temperatures.
4. Scissors, pen/pencil, masking tape, something to punch small holes for the mirror.
5. A sewing machine that can sew through thick fabric. Or find someone who can do the stitching for you (seamstress, upholsterer, etc.).
I hope I didn’t miss any important steps, but a picture is worth a thousand words, and hopefully it will make your project easy and fun to do.
Here we go:
First, here's my sorry-looking original sun visor.
