im getting a new stereo system for mt 96 sl1 and its a high powered
system and i was wondering if i got need to get a new higher out put
alternator or if a right size cap will do it. but the main thing
is if i get a 200 amp alternator will i need to replace the stock
wiring or will it be fine as is

i have a pretty healthy system in my nonner, and i dont even run a cap...what size cap do you have, and how big of a ssytem is it?

Current x voltage = power 80 amp alternator x 12 volts = 960 watts Unless you have a 1000 wattamp that your going to have wide open all of the time, the answer is no. Be more concerned about your wire harness between the amp and the battery. If it's high power in the trunk, use at least 6 gauge.

on a side note, i used all 4 gauge on my car.
