OK, SO I have a 1993 SL1 with SOHC and 86k on the clock. my gas mileage is 17.5 around town, is this right? The sticker says 22 to 26. My engine temp indicator never reaches the first hash mark. The heater does blow warm/hot(?). I have only started to work on this car so pointers are welcome. I plan to have the OBD read at Autozone. I hope they have the tool. I have not pulled a spark plug, or checked into much yet. Air cleaner was replaced, oil is fresh, tires are inflated correctly. I'd like to get at least 22mpg or better around town. But the car wont see much highway use. Please help me from a diagnostic agenda.

Welcome to the fold. On any car that is new to you, keep an eye on fluid levels as you become acquainted to your new (for you) ride. Next order of business, OBTAIN A SHOP MANUAL for the car (about $25 usd at AutoZone or whatever). Next, browse a Forum (like this one), and get a feeling for possible issues that may be lurking in the shadows. Finally, have the OBD read, and post the numbers here ....................
