Greetings, all, I recently got a 15k mile engine from an SC2 to replace my current 212k mile engine. I'm hoping to do the swap over New Year's. The question becomes, what should I look to replace while I got the engine out? I have a clutch kit that I'll be doing. What about engine mounts? Use the old ones or get new ones? New distribitor cap or old one? Also, the new engine has been sitting idle for a while. What should I do to it before I start it up? Anything you'd recommend? |
Actually my question is what year Saturn do you have and what year engine is going into it? Edited by: Low Saturn

I guess he has no idea.

Sorry; I was on the road & forgot to check the thread...It's a 2000 SC2 and I believe the motor is either a 2000 or 2001.Edited by: sw2cam |
I will be a direct swap. Before starting the engine, prime it with oil and fuel.To prime it with fuel, turn the key from the off to the run postion (without starting the engine). Leave it in the run position for five seconds, turn it off and repeat five times. To prime it with oil, remove the electrical connector at the coil packs and crank the engine for 45 seconds to a minute. This will get oil throughout the engine so you dont start up a dry engine. Plug the coil packs back in and fire it up.Edited by: sw2cam
