I have a 2006 Saturn ION-3 with the EPE package it has the 2.4 ECOtec engine,

I put in a Weapon-R short ram intake a few days ago, I drove it around after I put it in, felt a slight power increase in the higher RPM range but nothing major, then about a day after I had instaleld the intake, my car started to Idle at 1700-1900 RPMS, (normal is 700-900). I bought a big bore throttle body and put that on didnt fix the problem, I didnt think it was gonig to but might as well try since I was gonig to buy one and put it on eventually. I can get the cars RPMS to drop to a normal idle if I turn on the air or defrosters. Im beginingto think I might have a vacuum leak, but Im not sure, and if so im not sure how to check for one.

I also think thatit might be theengine idle control vavle, but I dont know were it is or what it looks like, I check the intake I check the throttle body I check the gaskets andeverything looksfine and normal, but it idles real high, andnow it has hard cold starts and revs up to like 3000 RPMS, but then drops.

can anyone help me at all, point me in the right direction or anything, please,

Thank You,

Shane http://www.jonko.com/auto_repair_for...ault/smile.gif

Shane,

I posted or should I say Ithought I posted a reply. You one definetly nedd to get a manual dealer or aftermarket for you vehicle.Any time you do a plug and play make shure you have reconnected all that you disconnected. It could be anything from mass flow sensor to throttle position and especially a vacuum leak.Cup your hand over the intake and don`t worry it won`t suck you hand in , but you may be able to hear it before it dies. Check the alignment of you intake and is there any potential of your intake butterfly valve sticking.

sometimes a piece of garbage will get stuck in the butterfly of the tb. happened to a friends car a couple times when he had the air cleaner assembly off the intake. I know he was relieved when i pulled the pieces out, one was no bigger than the head of a needle, but just big enough to cause trouble. If this definitly is not the problem, a vaccuum leak soundsplausible.

Thank you man,

I did I held my hand over ever connection made nothing leaked,

I dont think its a vaccum leak now beucase I never disconnected any of the vaccum lines and the car is too new to have bad lines, I might be wrong though.the throttle body is fine, cleaned it made sure nothing was in its way,

I think it might be the MAF sensor, but Ididntthink the MAF sensor would cause a high idle beucase it doesnt control the Thottle body? or am I wrong? andthe throttle body on my car is not pulledby a cable, its done with the computer, lol, weried, were is the throttle position sensor? and were is the air idle bypassvavle, I think it might be that too.

I cant find a service/repair manual for my car its too new its a 2006 and, the dealer says they dont even have one, whitch I know is B.S.

I think Im going to call a bunch of differnt dealres, lol

What you think?

Thanks for the help again,
