DIY Timing Belt on 3.0L

I really like doing my own work, saves the $$ and I learn more as I do. Have done cylinder heads and tranny replacements, intake manifold redo's etc on my other vehicles.

Looking at inspecting and if needed, replacing, the timing belt on my L300
with the 3.0 and wondering if others here have done it?

What kind of time am I looking at? Assume it'll involve pretty much disassemble most everything on top and in front of the engine, cam and crank TDC setting and all that jazz

the usual TIA for any replies

Dave

Sorry, never done one on a V/6 L.

I've never fooled with on either. Sounds like it's time for a Haynes manual or some other source of information. A service manual is the best to have, but not always that easy to find.

Well I have changed a timing belt or two and it has been recommended you need some instructions such as a service manual. That helps. It generally is good at telling you that you don't have the right tools.
I know as a way to spend my time having fun? After the 3rd timing belt on my Mitsubishi and the 4th I ever changed. 3 Timing belts was the only thing that engine ever needed for 270,000 miles I decided it was the last car I ever bought that required one.
I have not changed one since. I have turned down a couple of offers to get paid changing one. My answer of Sorry you don't have enough money to pay me sort of discouraged people from asking.
