couple questions

so ive got a 97 sc2 5speed i wondered are there any forms in which the is prone to break itself, does it have any common issue within the motor that tends to go for example a bearing being spun or oil pump dying quick or a rod snapping anything like that?

and also are sc body panels exchangeable with the sc2?

Are you asking about same year vehicles, or a range of years?

I think he's asking what are the most common problems that occur in Saturns in general. I had heard that for some the pump in the trans is prone to premature failure, overall I'm not knowlegable enough to say. The front springs on the strut's are not long lasting at least on the SL & SC.

Some people have reported oil usage of as much as a quart/1000mi. Argument is still open as to the cause (bad rings, bad valve guides, etc.). Others (like myself) have run their vehicles into the 150,000 mile + range with no appreciable oil usage.

Older engines had problems wth the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS). Original device had a resin coated sensor tip witch would fail, causing the air/fuel mixture ratio to go either very rich, or very lean. Darned part (with a metal tipped sensor) only costs about $15 usd, but it can cause a host of starting problems.

alright, well ill be putting in a new motor soon and as i do so ill have to see, i imagine some new gaskests and seals should help the problem as well and maybe run a thicker oil
