who knows I maybe able to get more out of it but its scary when you are turning into traffic and it just does not want to go it will eventually its been like that for a long time we fixed some things that were causing it not to start but that issue never went away we even thought it was a hole in the muffler I have to say for a little light weight car it was great in the snow which was really what I bought it for someone who worked on it for me said they were just cheap cars that never should have been made very poorly made but people I know had them and loved them when I first got it it would not start the guy who sold it to me had to bypass some wiring where the CD player is he said it was getting very very hot he bypassed something and it was fine

Which is probably where the problem is

It ran fine after that, it just wouldn't start the wiring was too hot
Bypass in most cases means work around so as to not have to address the root cause. The car is too far gone now. It's a shame |

Your best bet it to take the $440 and go get something else. That thing will be a money pit the longer you hang on to it.

I have put approximately 500,000 mi total on a 95 and 97 SC2. The 95 runs fine and is sitting in my driveway.
For the most part, cars that received regular maintenance and care lived on. Those that didn't did not. Certain things, when left unaddressed, can and will damage other things. I'm with Rube. |

I have a 2017 Kia Forte LX that I bought new in July of 2017. I currently have 171,000 miles on it and it still runs like a top. It has a 2.0 four cylinder engine and 6 speed automatic transmission. I change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles with full synthetic motor oil and a Mobil1 filter. I switched from Mobil1 motor oil to Valvoline Restore and Protect about 10,000 miles ago. It uses about a half quart of oil between changes. I STILL use the Mobil1 filter. I need this car to get to 250,000 at least and do all of my own maintenance. I've replaced the front brake pads and rotors twice and the rear pads and rotors once. It still has the original serpentine belt and it's still in good shape. I am going to put a new one on it at 175,000 and will keep the old one in the trunk as a back up. The ONLY time it has ever been to a dealership is for KIA announced recalls or warranty work. My point is that if you get a new car and do the regular maintenance, today's cars should last a long time.
