Just do what derf suggested, will ya? Take the belt off, start the car and see if it stalls. DO NOT DRIVE IT. It will overheat and kill the engine entirely. If the car doesn't stall, get the fan belt that bypasses the a/c compressor and then do with it what you will. I'm officially out of this conversation now.

He can look up the belt for the non ac version

Not as far as I can tell, Andy. TBH, I don't think we ever will.

Hi I am still driving it as is its running ok I don't think bypassing the air compressor will make a difference just the noise may stop my firebird Is leaking from the timing cover so the saturn for now is all I have I hate putting any more money into it at this point as I am looking for another car and its due to be registered and the check engine light is on again its been on for yrs it seems last time I had to pass emissions cost me almost 1,000 for parts everytime we changed something the light came back on then the car would not connect to the emissions testing we ended up getting someone from the emissions office to pass the damn car somehow. of course a WK after it passed the light came back on. I don't want to spend another fortune on it to pass emissions so I can register it next yr. time to move on and get another car

Just drive it until it dies and have something picked out already as a replacement. Take the tag off, get all your stuff out and leave it sitting on the side of the road. I did that with an old car I had once. It died on the interstate (engine locked up) and I got all of my stuff out, took the tag off and called my sister to come get me. I left the keys in the car and a note on it that said "Want it? Take it. The title has been signed and is in the glove box." Two days later when I went by, it was gone.

That sounds like something you did back when people hitchhiked and smoked a lot of grass.
I think law enforcement would trace it to the owner in less than an hour. It's a shame but things are not as they once were in so many ways |
