Hi,

I'm new to the forum, and on my second saturn. I bought a 95 sl2 5 speed last summer, and it has been a great car despite some recent problems I have been having with it. 2 weeks ago, I was driving along when the the car became difficult to shift. I was fairly close to my destination, so I kinda forced the car into gear. The next day I towed it to a tranny shop where they replaced the shifter cables and checked the transmission out. The mechanic said the problem was fixed and the transmission and clutch looked to be in good condition. The car ran perfect for a week untill a couple of days ago when it refused to go into gear again. It will go into gear when the engine is off, but not when on. There is no resistance in the clutch pedal. I pumped the clutch a few times, and it worked. I am thinking it is a hydraulics issue. Any input would be greatly apreciated.

the hydraulic piece that goes into the transmission is shot. this is somewhat common on saturns, and they can b3e replaced in about 30 min.

I have been having the same problem with my 98 sl2. Just started after I had the trans replaced.Everything you can adjust has been adjusted and still have the problem. The part that goes into the trans is called the slave cylinder. That is what I think the problem is.

Clutch SLAVE cylinder. The slave could have very well went bad, and has nothing to do with the shifter cables.
