Hey gang. I am taking out the radiator and trying to seal up the leaks that are now pouring out! Got everything removed and am to the last steps......and because of all the leaking, the transmission cooling fittings are frozen!! I have PB Bustered them to death over the past hour. Any other suggestions on how to get them broken free? I just want to seal this up so I don't have to buy a new radiator.

Oh, I am driving a 95 SL2

Thanks

try tightening them just a smidge with the hopes of breaking them loose. are they metal fittings? perhaps try heating them a tiny bit, or tapping on them with a very small hammer.

Tried all of that. Still didn't work. Found a place that I can buy a replacement new radiator for $130 nearby. I will just go and replace the entire thing when I have the cash. Only question I will have is how do you get to the fittings where they attach to the transaxle?

My wife just hit a smalllog in the road and sent it through the air dam and radiator, what a mess. Any way, I was surprised how easy it was to replace the radiator. On my 95 SL1, the trans fittings are brass to the carbon composite rad fitting, I don't understand how others have their fittings seize up. If your going to junk the oldrad, try cutting them out with a dremel, then crush the remainder of the carbon fitting with channel locks. Or cut the line right off at the fitting and get yourself a flaring tool. You'll loose about a 3/8 of an inch of the line, but should have enough to put it back together again.
