a/c compressor leak around black cover
Does anyone know what is behind the black cover with 2 screws on the a/c compressor (opposite side of pulley facing drivers side).Im hoping there is a gasket that can be replaced. I really want to know what that cover is covering, whats its purpose....Also how difficult is it to change out the compressor.is getting the belt on/off a pain. and can i evacuate the system myself then install the compressor and then take it to the shop and have it flushed and recharged.

please stop double posting (your other thread has been deleted)
pls state yr/model info What is the consistency of that which leaks? Serpentine belts are quite easily removed by releasing the tension at the belt tensioner so that shouldn't be a worry. Proper evacuation and capture of refrigerant requires specialized equipment - it's illegal to vent the stuff into the atmosphere. If the refrigerant/oil mix has already all leaked out and the system is no longer holding any pressure, then a compressor swap in the driveway is not venting anything. Does the AC work? What are the high and low side pressure readings? |

All - This question appears to have answered a few times under different threads. Now I need to find a kit to replace the scroll valve related compoments.
