Default brake pads rubbing against the disk

hi i have a 98 sl1 and for some reason the front brake pads are rubbing up against the disk when the brake pedal isn't pressed. Also, there is a thumping feeling coming from that wheel when driving. The right front tire had a small hole recently fixed in it. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Pads always make contact with the rotors....always. Pull the tire and have it checked.

Thanks! how hard should it be to turn the wheel by hand? Also what could cause the thumping? There is a groove cut into the disk.

Yes with both wheels off of the ground and the car in neutral

off the ground and neutral

Pull the tire and wheel and have it checked.

With respect to (WRT) the "thumping", the belt in the recently fixed tire may be be coming loose inside the casing. Especially if the tire was "plugged" for a fix, and it was done improperly. Change to another tire, and see if the thumping disappears

Does it thump at all times at all speeds, if so look more to bearing, tire, wheel. If it only thumps when breaking then look towards rotors. You need to supply more information in order for us to try to give you things to looks at.
