Another 2003 Saturn Vue Problem- Headlights
 

This started to happen winter of last year. At night I would have my headlights on and when I use my turn signal the daylight icon would light up on my dashboard and the headlights would dim. I thought at first that it was the fuse. Took the car to O'Reilly's and they took the fuse out of my car and tested it. It was fine. If my son wiggles the fuse each time it happens then it works fine. Is it possible to have a short somewhere near the fuse box that would cause my headlights to react in that way each time I use my turn signals?

I just recently had this issue with my redline. The fuse was good, but it was bad.
Sounds odd, right?
But what it was, the fuse popped, and the connectors in the fuse were still touching, so giving off some energy, just not enough for it to give off full brightness.

sneaky devil of an issue. Rare but does happen.
Obviously, replace the fuse w one of the identical current rating.
If that blows, then we need to dig a little deeper.......

I thought it was a bad relay....but the ions don't have a relay for the headlights. Not sure about the vues.

I wanted to have the fuse replaced but O'Reillys told me that I didn't need to. lol

Probably because they don't do that and figured you wanted them to. Just buy some fuses and replace that one. See what happens. I'm more inclined to belive it's dirty contacts in the fuse holder or on the back of your headlights where they plug in.

Per Rube's "dirty contacts" comment, insert and remove the new fuse about ten times before leaving it in (do this with the headlights OFF). This is referred to as "sweeping the contacts" and should help to remove any built up oxidation on the surfaces that contact the fuse.
