AC -- Fix for leaky high side valve
is there a way to remove the GM Parts Genuine 15-5528 Air Conditioning Service Valve without evacuating the ac system. It's not the common one where you can just use the little tool to unscrew it. They have a special tool for that, which I will use on the low side service port, but the high side is different. Here's a pic.
Thanks https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sat...f7d5cb9912.jpg |
I do not think that is replaceable. I have used this on an older Chevy van to stop a high side valve leak.

Can you elaborate??? What exactly did you use? How would I install that on mine? Did yours look exactly like mine. You just installed it on top of yours or something??

The Chevy leaked from the high side valve. The repair kit has a second valve that screws into the hole that the cap used to go and provides a new Schrader style valve. It resolved the problem on the 93 Chevy van. I have not needed one since.

Can you confirm if it looks like the one in the image I shared

No, that was many years ago. I looked up a product for a 2007 Ion and this came up.

That's actually the part I ended up needing. Couldn't tell from your pic. Got it swapped out. Thanks!

So you are saying you simply replaced the high side valve in a one-to-one swap?
Please post the part number and manufacturer so that others may directly access this part. |
