I have 98 Sl2 stick shift it has been working fine but I went to start it recently and it wont turn over. it has all the power it needs and everything works but it wont turn. Are ther safty sitches on these cars that wont allow it to turn over? How about a fuse that might cause this problem? any suggrestions would be appreciated |

I had to replace my starter as well. Plus, I always change out my battery and cables whenever I buy a car out of habit. Plus go through all your fuses (engine chasis and interior kick panel), it can't hurt...

where is the neutral safty switch located? can it be crossed or disconected?

I wouldn't recommend it, but in a Civic, it's a sensor inside the cab and down by the clutch... I haven't done it with a Saturn so I can't help you beyond that... One piece of advice though, if you plan on doing this, never get an aftermarket remote-start system. I can guarantee that you're going to forget about what gear its in and start it without it being in nuetral. And it won't be as bad if you're behind the wheelwhen it happens. Not if it happens, when it happens.

yeah I can see that being a problem i would only do it to see if it was the problem and then i would replace it. Thanks for the info.

Before you go bypassing a switch, go to AutoZone or a local shop and have the Starter tested... It may prove to be more beneficial that spending time on something that may not be the issue.

btw: I don't mean to come off as being a dick. I'm just trying to keep one more person from being added to the list of people I've seen do this. Myself included...

I know what you mean I own a used car lot I was just thinking testing the switch would be easier than pulling the starter and I might get lucky
