96 sl2 no start, no spark

hi, the car died while cruising 40mph last week, never started again, got it towed home. car cranks normally but will not start. pulled a wire and got no spark. pulled all wires from coil packs, and none have spark. no check engine light, no codes. scan tool is reading 200something rpms when cranking. my questions are:

how does this vehicle time the ignition, is there a camshaft position sensor, and if so how to test it?

where is the ignition control module and how is it tested?

anything else it could be / common problems with this engine?

thank you for your input!

The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) defines the engine position to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). A crankshaft position pulse occurs at each TDC, at 60-degrees after (A)TDC and 120-degrees ATDC. A seventh pulse known as the SYNC pulse occurs 70-degrees ATDC on number one cylinder only.

Disconnect the wires from the CPS and set them aside. Connect the leads of an ohmmeter to the terminals of the sensor. It should read between 700 and 900 ohms. If it is not in limits, replace it.

for diagnosis, start with CPS then move on to coil packs and DIS module
