Default 94 sc clutch replacement

I am new to this forum and I am replacing the clutch in a 1994 saturn sc and after looking it over I am at a stand still. I need to know the best to proceed - with the engine in or with it out.

I recently replaced the clutch on a 99 Nissan Maxima and was able to do it with the engine in place... are there any similarities?

Any help is appreciated!

I've never worked on a Nissan Maxima, so I'm no help on this question -- sorry.

Clutch replacement on the S series is no picnic either way. Either the engine comes out or the trans comes out. Check the forums to see what works best for you. The easiest clutch r&r I ever did was on a 310 Nissan (maybe it was a Datsun back then, but I'm giving my age away now). That one came out without removing either. It was engineered with a bolt on plate for clutch access and a retractable input shaft (a 1 hour job, tops). I hate to say it but that guy really knew what he was doing. They might have won that war if he would have been in charge.
