My daughters saturn SL quit last night and I'm believing it is the timing belt that went.

The car only has 87k on it but I know the belt was very noisey and would not last too long

Anyone have some tips on replacing it ?.

I hear it's quite a task

Take it to someone that knows what they are doing. If you don't, don't touch it.

Its not that hard to do, especially on a SOHC. But if the timing CHAIN did break, you have far worse problems than just a broken chain.

Start looking for a replacement engine unless you know how to completly disassemble and rebuild an engine.
