2001 SL1 sohc engine & transmision

Hi There
The engine and transmission in my SL1 was built for just the saturn line to 2001? Or were they used or still used in other GM autos with minor changes?

Thank You

Calvin

Calvin,
As far as I know the engine in the S series Saturns was not used in any other GM line of automobiles. If you look on this forum there is reference to S engine interchange information over the years, I forget where it is as I am typing. If you klick on it, it will take you to an extensive document that chronicals changes that took place over the years that affects bolt in changing over.

It is too bad that before the S series had ended, the engine and transmission from the ION was not used for we would be able to keep the S series going forever with the advantage of more power. I don't know the deminsions of the ION's 4cyl and transmission but would probably be completely different in design from the SL's. Again this type of swap would require a wireing harnes change and computer.
Guess I will just have to manage the problems that come up with the 1.9 SOHC and hopefully get another 5 years out of the SL1. It only has roughly 68K on it so with some work I should make it.

Thanks for the info and links.

Calvin
