Alright my mom owns a 1996 saturn sl1, and everytime she starts the car it will have a loud squeeling sound like a belt? it SOMETIMES stops squeeking when driving but lately its been doing it 24-7 any idea on what this can be and how it can be fixed? thanks guys

 

The belt tensioner is probably worn or broken as its sole job is to keep the belt taut at all times. Its spring loaded and if you can easily depress the belt between the pulleys with your fingers the tensioner is worn. Replace it and the belt for good measure. Throw the belt away as it lasted as longas the tensioner.
