Valvoline restore and protect. 95 sl2 twin cam

Just did oil change at 223000miles on my auto 95 sl2 and was wondering how long I should keep valoline restore and protect in there till I change it out again? I want to clean the engine and have seen many videos and they all say different things, someone let me know any knowledge or recommendations on how long i should run it for, was originally thinking 1500miles but i run a glasspack muffler on stock exhaust and it runs very rich in result so I think the carbon build up is heavy and don't want to hurt the motor. Feedback in any way is appreciated just wanted 2nd opinions

Never used the product.
Most Saturn folks use Seafoam on the S cars.

How much oil does it burn per 3k miles?

What does the Valvoline product claim to do?

If you use a chemical treatment to clean the engine you'll likely live to regret it. Just keep the oil changed regular.

I've been using it in both of my Kias for over 20,000 miles now. The 2016 Soul my son drives has the 2.0 GDI engine (which I hate) and was using a quart every 800 to 1,000 miles. It's now down to a quart every 5,000 miles. It currently has a tad over 109,000 miles on it. I also run it in my 2017 Kia Forte with a 2.0 MPI engine and it uses about a pint between 5,000 mile oil changes. It currently has 177,203 miles on it. I will keep using it as long as I can purchase it. The GDI is a terrible design for an engine as the valves don't get a wash by the injector spray like the MPI engines do and thusly develop carbon deposits on the valves. I'm hoping that by just doing a valve cleaning every 30,000 miles and changing the oil every 5,000 miles will make this Soul last at least until he gets it paid off. Time will tell the tale. I also use genuine KIA oil filters. I was running Mobil1 and using Mobil1 filters on both cars, but swapped both to the Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 at the same time over 20,000 miles ago. Give or take a hundred or so miles. I'm happy with it and plan on just staying with it from now on.

Heard that my oil didn't turn black till after 500 miles instead of sitting 100 after an oil change but it burns it still but a little less but I'm pretty sure piston rings are goings bad and she could use a rebuild but u appreciate the knowledge and experience, it definitely helps i think I want to change it again already at 600 miles currently but I want to keep only full synthetic in in from now on I've always put regular motor oil in it for the longest and I hope it helps with oil burning.

Do at least 3 oil and filter changes at whatever mileage intervals you're comfortable (I'd suggest 3,000 to 5,000) and see if the oil consumption has decreased. Make sure you use a good filter too, not some $3.00 junk you get at a discount store. I'm pretty sure you'll like what the results are, but maybe it's just because I've always taken care of my cars. Oil to a car is like water to people. It's life!!
