I have a1999 saturn sc1 sohc with 138,000 miles on it. THe car has been running fine until one day it wouldnt start, like it had no gas. i put gas in it and it started but ever since then, it will start fine when its cold but if i drive somewhere and turn it off, when i come back it wont start for about 5 straight minutes off trying to start it. you have to floor the gas pedal as well. my coolant sensor is fried and i need a new radiatoris all i know is wrong with it. i tried some fuel injector cleaner. plugs were recently replaced. new air filter. any ideas?

The coolant sensor (ECTS) is causing your starting problem. Replace it, and things will get much better for you. $14 usd for the sensor; $2 usd for a small roll of Teflon tape; a cold engine; a crescent wrenchand about an hour of your time should do it ....

ok that sounds legit BUT it will just blow again if i dont replace my radiator.. can i do this myself? i know a descent amount about engines and have replace my alternator and some pulleys myself...

If you have half a brain ... yes you can.

If you think you need a hammer and cresent wrench, stop.Edited by: sw2cam

playa0069u ...

A damaged radiator will not cause the ECTS to fail again. It might cause your engine to overheat and crack the head however.

The ECTS is located on the block, not on the radiator ...

i figured all the overheating it does would just fry the sensor again. well either way they both need to be done, and apparently i can do them myself so yay lol thank you, we''ll see how it goes.
