30% Ethanol fuel
 

Hello this topic is on Ethanol fuel has anyone used 30%
of it in there saturn yet? reason being i know there is places
in america where it can be bought E30 at fuel stations.

No offense, but I personally don't even like E10 fuels, but its becoming more and more difficult to locate an E0 station, so I have to go with the flow. Mileage on my '93SW2 suffers a bit when I use it .......

before i say a word Why? dont you like Ethanol in fuel ?

Ethanol attacks rubber and gasket material used in fuel systems, engine assemblys, carburator and fuel injection systems. I don't know anything about E10 unless it is the stuff Arizona and California sell for the last 30 years or so, probably other places too. I know nothing about E30. I don't own a flex fuel car. If there is any question as to whether it will damage my car, being politically correct and Green and brokend down on the side of the road. That is not on my list of things to do.

Harder starting, lower fuel mileage, and as John said above -- I gotta worry about my gaskets rotting out ........

dont mistake Ethanol for methanol "methanol" is the bad one that one
attackes metal but not Ethanol Ethanol is alcohol E85 is 105 octane
Ethanol has had a bad rap because the oil companys have poisoned it
when the oil companys were mandated to add 10 % in our gas they also
added some retarder or something to the gas that has ethanol to make it

look bad so you dont get the mileage or performance look brazil has been
using Ethanol for 45 years and they dont have a problem with it in fact
there independant from north america for fuel and oil they make there own
out of Ethanol they have fuel and oil out of it for there vehicles and the oil
for electricity all this talk about Ethanol being bad is bs look at what ethanol
did for this bone stalk 2000 chevy tahoe and yes you can run 30% ethanol in
any car with out any modifications to it this one ran E85 there are some vehicles
that can run E85 with out no mods.

Now if I want the skinny on some form of a technical update on something automotive I personally am not going to take some word from a snake oil pitch on how something affected 2 2000 Chevy Tahoe. I would put the credibility of that in the same league as a

And while Brazil may have an infrastructure in place to run on ethanol and I am not saying it can’t be done, an analysis of the over all affect of it has not been presented to me yet to make judgment of it and a knee jerk reaction is not a good evaluation. In this country, there is not an infrastructure in place to drive across Rhode Island on propane, much less natural gas and sure as heck not with ethanol.

unclejohn you keep calling it methanol is not used in gas at all..in fact
its bad methanol eats ruber and metal within hours NOT Ethanol try
doing your own experiment using 100% ethanol pour it in a styrofoam
cup add the rubber hoses,metal ,aluminum peices and leave it on the
shelf for a couple of months and look at it Ethanol will not eat ruber
or corode metal or aluminuim it does NOTHING listen you pour Ethanol

on concrete it dries and leaves no residue you pour gasoline on concrete
it doesent dry and leaves an oil stain residue you cant even pour gas in
a styrofoam cup with-out it being eaten up Ethanol is safe clean burning
fuel that makes oxygen out the tail pipe of a car gasoline eats oxygen
from the air ok whats causing the problems and bad fuel mileage is what
the oil companys are adding to our gas that has up to 10%Ethanol not

He was trying very hard to sell me something. Using slightly less than factual information. Factual in that how he was applying it and I was going to use it being two different things.
A little like listening to current credit card ads telling how wonderful it is to manage my money, let them spend it and charge me 27% to do it.
There might be a use for pouring ethanol on concrete, but using it in high concentrations in my cars
