What can I use to remove hardened tree sap? The hood and roof are covered with tiny dots of tree sap that fell and hardened. The dots are dark brown now. I have tried tar remover and a variety of cleaners. The only way to affect them is to physically scratch them off. Very labor and time intense.

Bug and tar remover...or...Goo Be Gone...or...WD40......then wax it. If you want it gone......it takes some work. Edited by: sw2cam

I have tried all of those except WD 40. What about rubbing compound?

Never use rubbing compound on clear coat paint.

What is clear coat paint?

No matter what you use to try to remove the sap, you have to be willing to put in some work.
