Default 98 sl start problems

I have 98 Saturn SL having start problems replaced the safety switch behind the clutch thought that was the problem. Worked for bit then started again. Stopped using lockclicker thought maybe shorting worked for a bit. Started again cleaned battery terminals but the radio lights and all that works when you turn the key to start. No whining not turning over just quiet fan comes on and roll starts fine. Any ideas as to what it may be?

Make sure both cables are clean and tight. Cut back a half inch of the insulation of the positive cable at the battery end. Your looking for corrosion of the wires. The green/blue death of a cable caused by a leaking battery.

Stop in the new member area and introduce yourself. After that open the USER CP and add your first name, location, and car to your "signature".

I agree with Joe. It sure sounds like a bad ground connection to me. Next, have the battery load tested. It may have a dead cell in it.
