my son has a 1997 sl1 automatic his rad broke and leaked coolant into the tranny we added an external trans cooler and flushed the trans and added new fluid. when you shift from park it has no gears at all does not even try to move. I have been wrenching for more then 20 yrs and it has me stumped. any help would be awesome

 

Did you change the filter or not? If not, you're going to have to change it along with the fluid again, possibly. Try adding an extra 1/2 quart and see if it moves. The extra cooler may take a little more fluid. But then again, what do I know? I'm not a mechanic.

 

Yes I changed the filter and I will try extra fluid I put in 4.5 litres. Thanks will post back

 

ok so fluid is up pump is working in trans and still nothing. in park with the tires off the ground when I spin one the other turns the opposite way in r n d 2 3 they free wheel makes no sense lol

 

I also just unhook the neg cable on the battery to reset

 

I don't know what else to tell you man. I don't work on them but maybe Keith will pop up with some ideas. I'm pretty sure he either is or was a mechanic.
