Anyone See This
General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary

This recall chit is out of control. 99% is the fault of the suppliers. Do they get bad press from it. Do they cover the cost of replacements parts. Do they cover the cost of labor. Those same suppliers sell parts to GM, Ford, Honda, Toyota, etc. So what do they do besides sit back and count the money they make by now selling an updated part they sold in the first place.
Largest recall in history.
1. Ford, 2009
Defect: Cruise-control switch spontaneous combustion
Units affected: More than 14 million
Models affected: 1992-2003*Ford Explorer,*Excursion,*Ranger,*Windstar,*E-150 - 450*and*F-150 - 450;*Mercury Mountaineer.*
Date: October 2009
NHTSA campaign number: 09V399000*
What happened: The largest recall in automotive history originated with faulty cruise-control switches that were a possible fire hazard. The switches were prone to overheating, smoking or even burning, often hours after the vehicle had been parked. To complicate matters in certain models, the cruise-control meltdown would spread to the anti-lock braking system, requiring further inspection. Although the original recall affected only 4.5 million customers, an estimated 14 million vehicles were ultimately recalled.

Who remembers removing the key from the ignition was a GM Trademark? And yes I think that some of these recalls are way out of control. There are some problems that are directly related to the owner actually being responsible for the maintenance of their vehicle and flat blowing it off.
It seems as if it is now socially acceptable to blame others for your own lack of taking care of things.
