Default gonna go take a look

Found this on the good ole interwebz. My 17 year old sister is about to finish driving school to get her permit. I think I can have some fun with it until she gets her license. It will be my first S car, but my mom had 2 and LOVED both of them.
But overall if I can talk the price down, fix the starter, give it a good cleaning, and do some other little things to it to make it fun and safer for her when she is ready. Mileage is a little high, but I know these cars can last a long time if they are kept up with.

That's a good looking ride, Billy. Even if they won't come off the price, it's a good buy. The first one I had was like that, not in that good of shape and had over 300,000 miles on it and I paid $700 for it. As long as the transmission shifts good, that car would be great for your little sister. 35mpg is an easy average for it, too.

The transmission is my main concern. Getting one is the easy part, getting it put in is a whole different story. I kind fell in love just by looking at the pictures. I am calling them later today to ask some questions, and if all sounds good, see if I can go inspect it tomorrow.
And I know the price is extremely fair on it, but if I can talk it down, id be even happier.

That's a very nice looking "96". The last few of that body style I've seen up here don't look all that great. About the only thing I have done to the transmission in mine besides the fluid and filter change is replacing the input shaft nut. A local mechanic tried to tell me I needed a new transmission but I discovered after some research, it was only the input shaft nut. I fixed it for $8 and a few hours of labor. Hopefully you make out ok.That looks like a really good buy.

I replaced the valve body in the 94 that I had. It cost me $110 and a couple of hours of my time. Not that difficult once you get everything out of the way.

this is why I like sharing this with you guys. You know these cars, and honest about it. Like I said, it will by my first s car, so I think it'll be fun the short time I have it. It'll be good to get familiar with the older styles as well.

If you are still looking at this it seems to be worth the money. I've had a 94 coupe since 1996 and have become quite attached to it.
The only problem I've had with the transmission during that time is if I let it sit too long with out driving it the thing shifts a little harsh, but a days worth of driving settles it down.
The iffy parts of it are the window motors and oil mileage. If oil mleage is off pay close attention to it.
A steady diet of the factory recommended 5W20 tends to wear the engine out pretty bad. If the owner used at least a contemporary 10W30 it will almost last forever.
