2002 L200, RiP...
So, our l series is dead. It died in probably the most expensive way possible, with the fuel pump dying, then the engine two days later after replacing the fuel pump... The car had been faintly ticking since we had it, and I was liking to think it was lifters, but I was wrong. It was the known issue of the timing chain guides failing, and all the ensuing damage related to that, plus I think the flywheel broke apart, since the starter screams but doesn't engage the engine in any way... Just figured I would write an obituary... 262,624 miles was its true lifespan... It fell short of my goal of 300k... Getting crushed today...
Mods feel free to love this where it is better suited if not here...

Sorry to hear man, sucks when ya have to spend money to replace a car. If you will be looking for a replacement the 2006 and 2007 ION's are damn nice rides. To be honest I'm heading towards 60 and my QuadCpe may be the best, and most liked car I have ever owned. I've had Honda's, Toyota's, Chevy's, BMW''s, and more. This stupid ugly little ION 2.4L QC has been perfection. Now mind you I got it used with super low miles. Meaning I got it before some ******* ruined it.

I'm not currently looking for a replacement;I've already signed for one... The dealer within a half mile of my wife's workplace had a pretty cherry certified pre owned 2011 Chevy Cruze LT... It has a power train warranty until 7/4/16 or 100k, whichever comes first, and the bumper-bumper is for 12k, I think... Literally I just got sick of cheap used cars where my wife was concerned, and was intending to buy a brand new one... She got the car of her dreams...and I lost my Suzuki...

Ours is a 1LT, with the 1.4T, the automatic gearbox, and I think the optional sound(unless USB and AUX and Bluetooth connecting comes standard)... I think it's an alright car for her, but I'd have the Eco... The thing is a little slow(my 4.0/5speed ranger is quicker to sixty) and when you use the manual mode, there is a small amount of turbo lag(spools around 3.5K), but in auto mode, you don't notice it because if you get in it enough to get boost, it usually kicks down several gears, by which time the turbo has spooled... But otherwise, a very nice car... Just could use the manual trans from the Eco, and the boost turned up until it has about 160hp...lol

I would hope your 4.0L Ranger would be quicker to 60. The Cruze scales at 3,100lbs and makes 138hp with that 1.4L turbo. I like the Forte...makes 173hp and scales under 3,000lbs. The ION 2.4L is a bit better at 175hp and under 2,900lbs.

Yeah, the thing has a pretty crappy power to weight ratio... I didn't wanna tell the salesman but out l series was quicker to 60(same hp rating and two fewer gears in the gearbox)... I noticed when getting on the freeway... That's fine though, it's not like my wife needs to hit 120 by the end of the on ramp, anyway...
I would kinda like to find an ION 2.4/5speed for myself though... I liked my mothers car enough, and what's wrong with 175hp before mods?
