93 sl1 idles high poor fuel milage
Exactly what title says, just bought the car, only fueled up twice and got 25 and 27 mog respectively, I do mostly country driving and would expect it to be more like 35 mpg, as far as idling high, it idles about 1200 rpms even when warm

Put a new fuel filter in, and run some fuel injection cleaner through.
Also change the spark plugs, wires, oil, oil filter.
Before you change the oil though, run some MMO through it for 20 minutes to help clean the stuff outta the motor.

That the classic symptoms for a leaking intake manifold gasket. It's easy to check, the weak spot in the intake is the upper outboard corner of the #1 cylinder, but leaks can occur anywhere. Spray something, like WD40 or carburetor cleaner around this area and see if the idle is affected in any way. If there is a leak, there will be some effect on the idle.
You could also have a vacuum leak somewhere else, like a vacuum line, but the manifold gasket is the #1 culprit.

Good answer too, I guess that's why you're here.

https://www.saturnforum.com/forum/general-tech-help-13/etcs-its-connnector-6417/ in the general tech section. The ECTS when it fails usually makes your car run way rich, eating up gas and killing the fuel mileage.
It's a 2 wire sensor sticking out of the head on the driver's side. The connector is a squeeze connector. Swap out when car is cool.

Check that connector and make sure it isn't cracked. I replaced the sensor needlessy in one of mine only to discover it was the connector that was defective. I'd already purchased a new one along with the sensor, but the sensor was just money I could have saved. I put it in anyway and gave to other one to a former member.
