I would like to thank all you guys for this post. I have a 2002 Silver Blue Special (the one they sold for $9995 including air) that I bought new. This is the first problem I've had with it, the light came on at 100213 miles and I got P0507 only. I have noticed that the gas mileage has gotten a little worse, from 37mpg down to 35 mpg and the idle has gotten a little rough. I have both the factory service manual set and a Haynes manual for this vehicle and both are useless for this code. I will look into the intake manifold gasket and the EGR, I haven't fixed the problem yet.

I had to remove the throttle body to get the IAC out to replace it and I could not believe the amoount of gunk built up inside it. Is this normal? I haven't seen this level of carbon since the unsmogged carburated cars of the sixties. BTW, it burns about a quart of oil every 3000 miles, but that does not seem excessive to me, my wifes Honda does about the same and has about the same number of miles.

One more thing, this Saturn has been more reliable, over all, than either of our Hondas, my Nissan or my last Mitsubushi. Go figure.

have you ever had a "three step combustion system cleaner" performed? this generally will help clear out that "gunk" in there..

Torque value 22 ft lbs

8 4 1 5

7 3 2 6 9

Does the Saturn have the same incompatability problems of the intake
manifold gasket material and Dexcool that the GM v6 engines suffer from?

Never heard of a "three step combustion system cleaner". I have
used a bottle of Techron and I cleaned the throttle body with Gumout
spray.

I checked it this afternoon. it appears that the intake manifold gasket is leaking around the #1 cylinder.

My 00 sl2 had rpm issues like this and I changed the throttle position sensor and the rpms are now at 700 to 800 instead of 2000 to 1500 I now get 22mpg city instead of 17mpg. hope this will help
