Hi everyone. I am brand new to the forum.

Our 2002 SL2 is cranking, but not starting up.Battery is good, fuelpump good, but no spark. After testing the coil for #1 and #4, I found no spark, and purchased a new Crankshaft position sensor.

My wife needs the car to get to work. It has been raining all day today, and is supposed to rain the next two days straight here.

Bad luck...

I really need to get this car back on the road asap. Can I do this job from the top down? (under the hood as oppose to crawling under the car in the rain?)

I saw some videos that show the sensor right above the starter, so I figured I could see the sensor from above, but I can''t locate it.

Any tips? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Rob

Gotta do from beneath. You''ll see it when you get under the car.

Put a piece of cardboard on the ground and you shouldn''t get too soaked. Or push it into a friendly neighbor''s garage to stay dry.

Igot manly about it and did it.

Was able to switch it out for a new one, but the vehicle still will not start.

it cranks and cranks....

it seems to be getting fuel, battery is turning the starter at normal speed, it gets spark at the coils for sure. It cant be the plug wires.

80k miles...

My wife now mentioned to me for the first time that the car has been really rough the first minute or two of startup. Like "vibrating". I always maintained oil level, and all other fluids. I don''t know what could have happened. Timing chain broke? i wish I knew more about cars!

I am gonna wind up getting it towed to a shop. I am out of ideas.Edited by: redwolf4k

You may have to take it to the dealer to do a crank relear procedure since you swapped out the sensor.
