Smile Saying goodbye...

Well, after 7 years of great service I watched my son's little SL1 drive away for the final time last night. He had decided that he didn't want to spend any more money on a 20+ year old car that had not been fully repaired from the accident and now had a cracked windshield. He listed it on Craig's List and it sold at the asking price in about 5 minutes. I kid you not, 5 minutes. The guy called and said he would take it and came right over. Took way longer to write the ad than it did to actually sell the car.

I am very thankful to all of the folks on this forum who are so knowlegeable about this little car and have been so generous with their time in helping me keep it running all this time -- not just running but running great. Given my initial ignorance about the car and my propensity for hard-headedness I am also thankful for the patience you've shown me.

I'll continue to watch this forum just in case some of my experiences will prove useful to someone else.

Good to know you'll stick around, Howard. What did your boy replace the Saturn with, if you don't mind me asking?

Of course I don't mind you asking. He got a 2003 VW Golf GLS 2.0.

VW is not really a bad car unless he got an automatic transmission. Their quality of automatics has never been all that great from what I've read.
