My new Lw300
#51
I have decided to sell the LW300, so today I replaced the leaky fuel pump. It has been smelling like gas when stopped, this is a fairly common failure for this car. The return line cracks where it returns into the pump assembly. You have to remove the exhaust and the tunnel heat shield to drop the tank on this car. I installed the exhaust from the flange back from a L200, I kept the slightly larger twin tailpipe exhaust for my L200/5. I removed the Roadmaster tow bar mounts and wiring from the front, and the hitch from the rear. I swapped the outer passenger door skin and mirror with the L200/5. I kept the new battery and the factory 6 disc high line stereo. I even removed the factory amp for a spare, I installed an aftermarket Pioneer CD player. I had to remove the driver's seat to get my old 6'7" frame under the dash. I don't bend as well as I used to and it hurts more. I swapped the headlights with the gold L200 for the grandson. As soon as the mounting kit for the aftermarket stereo gets here it will go on Craigslist. The car has 171k on it now it runs pretty good with the egr valve disconnected. The egr port must be plugged except for a couple ports. No smog checks in this part of Oregon so we will see if it sells.

I switched stereos between the gold car and the wagon today. I will sell the single cd stereo with the wagon. The aftermarket stereo has a input on the front for an iPod, I think my grandson would prefer this. I decided to get into the egr issue with the v-6, the car runs great with the egr disconnected but the service engine soon light is on. I removed the upper intake manifold to see how the egr went into the engine. I thought it went into the lower intake and entered near the injector. I was wrong, it enters the upper intake just behind the throttle plate. It has a port that I was able to tap and install a 1/4" pipe plug. I drilled a 1/16" hole in the plug to allow some egr. I reconnected the electrical plug on the egr valve and the car still runs ok and THE LIGHT IS OUT. Now I will clean and list the car on Craigslist.

So you corrected what was likely an insufficient EGR flow issue (clogged up EGR) by recycling the exhaust gases from everyone else's vehicle around you.
Quite thoughtful of you.
And damn clever.
But would you get nailed in California or is it hidden ?
Nice

6'7" is not really intimidating, derf. Knees and ankles all snap with the same amount of pressure when applied quickly and appropriately. I'm not quite 6' and worked with a 6'8" tall, 300 pound man that KNEW I wasn't intimated by his size. He learned it pretty quickly. I doubt that Andy is the type of guy that would use it anyway. He seems more like a big teddy bear. Just don't **** him off! LOL

Everything always appears to be factory. I will have to tell you about my crew cab and post some pictures one day. It is on a uncut Suburban frame and I get comments all the time. I put it together 11 years ago, it looks like an early body style Avalanche.
