yeah, the saturn ion is full of sensors everywere, you do one little thing and it throws your check engine light, the sensors are really sensitive, thats the only thing I dont like about my car.I dont know what your light could be going off for, try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it thats what I did to reset my check engine light, when I changed my oil, It might work, but Im not sure

If you have a flashing check engine light, the your catalytic converter
is in danger of being damaged. Changing a battery should not
cause this, unless someone accidently reversed the battery
cables. This is easily done if the wrong battery was
installed. Many batterie sizes come in two versions, the
difference being the location of the + and - terminals.
If you did not install this battery yourself, look at it and see if it
appears that the cables are "streched" to reach the terminals or are
crossed. This could be what has happened to you. If the
cables were accidently hooked up backwards, you will probably need a
new computer and thats not going to be cheap. The place that
installed the battery wrong should be responsible and have insurance
for this, if you can prove it. The wrong battery would be a good
clue.
