Default Aura transmission in a Cavalier?

We have a 2004 Cavalier (don't hate) 5 speed manual that we race on a dirt track. Long story short we knocked a hole in it. Got on some of the FWD FB pages and low and behold it has a Saturn Aura transmission in it. Not sure which year yet. Are there #'s on the transmission somewhere to verify? Would I be able to go back to the Cavalier transmission using the same mounting points? Here are some pictures. Thanks

I don't know, but would think that you should look at an 04 Aura, if you can find one with a five speed.

Just found out from pervious owner that the transmission is out of a 2004 Saturn Ion. Not many ecotecs around here with the 5 speed manual.

I'd call a Saturn friendly GM dealer and ask if the part numbers were the same on all 3 transmissions. That way, you'll know for sure rather than just be spitting in the wind.

I'm in La. also. Where can I find a 2004 Saturn Ion 5 speed transmission? The car is set up for that transmission.

The Pull A Part in Nashville has 4 2004 Ions in the yard. Next time I go, I'll be happy to check them for you. A manual trans runs around a hundred bucks. If I were to find and pull one for you, I'd expect to be compensated for my time and labor and of course, shipping costs.

I am too, bud. Heard the pull a part in Lafayette has one.
Think you're closer to Baton Rouge though.

Rube, it cost about 300 to ship a tranny

Thanks for the offer guys. I got one coming with only 79,000 miles on it (I hope) and a one year unlimited warranty. The ion in Lafayette is an automatic as most that I have found are. The 5 speed is kinda rare. Appreciate the help.
