Hi all, my name's Glenn from Copperas Cove, Texas. I'm a retired Army Viet Nam Vet with 3 Saturn's. I'm currently working on a 97 SL2 with a 1.9 DOHC. I don't have a lot of experience on Saturn's, but as a Machinist, I've been able to figure things out except for electrical problems. I pulled the head because of a common crack I think. Glad to be on board. Glenn

What Saturns do you have besides the 97 SC2?

Thanks for the warm welcome Derf. I also have a 98 SL2 with a 1.9 DOHC with 88,000 miles that I'm using for parts. The other is a 97 SL1 which I drive with 233,000 miles and still going strong, except for using a little oil. I think it's the valve guides as it only smokes when it sits over night. The 97 SL2 had a cracked head about an inch under the number 2 cylinder just behind the A/C bracket. I purchased a rebuilt head on ebay, put it together and it also had a crack in the same area, so it's back apart again. This time it only took an hour to take apart. I plan to scan the forum to see if anyone else has had this problem. Well, thanks again for the warm welcome.

Thanks Andy. I 'm also on the Ford F-100 and Tri-five Chevy forums and haven't had the welcome as I have had here. Must be all a great bunch. I remember having to change into street clothes after my return from Nam just so I wouldn't get spat at. Thanks again Andy.

And but for the exception of those few who committed unthinkable acts, you tried HONORABLY, though in vain, to accomplish the impossible task handed to you by a leader in touch with the truth but out of touch with reality.

It was not a war we could "win". There was no way to "win".

You did your duty, followed orders, probably experienced things I don't even want to try to conceive of, and made it out alive.

And I'm glad you did.

Welcome to the forum, Glenn. Being from the Vietnam era, I had several friends that were Vets. Most had some kind of issue or another, but nothing was worse than the way you guys got treated upon returning home. I respect and appreciate your service.

Hi Glenn, first and foremost; thank you for your service to our country! Honor & Respect to you sir!
I'm new here too, seems to be a great bunch of guys, and Lady. Small group, but seem quite dedicated to the cause. I also came here looking for answers, cracked head (go figure) on a 1993 SC1, SOHC. There are 3 different casting numbers on the SOHC's, two will interchange, one will not for the port injection, mine is a throttle-body. Anyway, came looking for answers, and decided to stay. This is a fun sight too, not just all about business. I hope you enjoy your stay!
