Default keyless remote

I have a L200 sedan 2002 Saturn & my keyless remote quit working and yes they both have new battery any help on how to sync to car would be great ? The manual
is useless. Another thing does any one have problems with the Gasket leaking oil ? I had mine replace 6 times
already top and bottom and oil still leaks , started when
my car hit 60,000 miles. It's now at 1020 and I replace the starter because it failed and beside replacing the gasket's & starter haven't had to fix much. Hoping I get 200,000 miles out of it. Thanks

Sometimes you need to open the RKE fob and lightly erase the buildup on the contact points where the plastic buttons touch the spots on the circuit board. Also if the lip that the circuit board rests on develops a crack, when you push down on the plastic button, the case yields and the button doesn't contact the circuit board at all.

Thirdly I think these may need to be reprogrammed by the dealer if all else fails. I'm not 100% but a search of this site and the internet for "reprogramming 2002 L200 RKE" should yield you an answer.

As for the valve cover gasket: I think you are tightening it down way too hard. The torque spec is like 23 lb pounds (look it up --That is a guess. The more you tighten it past the spec the more it will leak.

The receiver is under the back deck. If it doesn't work with a replacement from a parts place then you have to get a know one from GM. Their like $70 and you have to reprogram the tire pressure sensor along with the key fob

I'd suggest starting with a very light torque on the valve cover. Like around 8 foot lbs. You can always snug it some if it's leaking. Once it's too tight, you have to replace the gasket. AGAIN. It doesn't take much to seal one as long as the cover is straight and CLEAN. Those two things are key to getting a good seal.

I'd suggest thanking our new member for the input and then ditching this 3 month old "1 n done" post where we have no idea what if anything fixed or didn't fix anything. Hell, I forgot to ask if he checked the RKE fuse. d'oh!
