I failed my safety inspection today because I have a exhaust leak in the Flex pipe.Am I able to replace just the flex pipe or if I have to replace the catalytic converter and the rest of the exhaust pipe with it?Edited by: sw2cam

It's a 1996 saturn SL2. I've done alot of work on the car. I really like it though, and it gets great mileage. So far all of my problems have been in the haynes guide I have, but this one is not in there at all.Edited by: sw2cam

You can pick up just the flex pipr and have it welded in place. You can also but an entire downpipe with the flex pipe and new catalytic converter for $120 or so.

Most junkyard cut off the catalytic converter damaging the downpipe. Thats ok if all you want to do is cut off the flex portion and weld it onto your current pipe.

That sucks. None of my Saturns VIN's match whats on the engine. And nothing on them is stolen.

well idk about saturns but alot of imports have the vin stamped on the inside of the firewall... but the only time they inspect it is if you are registering an out of state title.. if its just a ks title to a new owner they just switch it over no inspection whatsoever Edited by: 95_sl1

Saturns have their VIN on a plate on the frame where the windshield meets the firewall, on the engine, on the frame under the drivers seat and on a label on the rear deck in front of the drivers side speaker.
