2000 SL Major electrical woes
#1
Car quit running last week, computer was VERY HOT. Would turn over but thats it. To make a long story short, it ran the battery down setting their replaced battery but knew I had a short. All three transaxle fuses in a direct short using ohm meter, fuel pump fuse has some resistance, even headlight fuses show a little all others okay. Also with the positve cable on the battery I can use a 12 volt tester hooked to the battery and the other end on the ground and get a pulsating short on off on off
Need help this is weird. Thanks

Did you have a battery leak in the past. If you are not the original owner of the car remove the battery, remove the battery tray. Look the harness over good. Can you see battery acid on it. Can you see battery acid eating it away. If you can buy a new harness and positive cable. Edited by: sw2cam

Thanks for the reply. I think I fixed it. I am pretty sure the battery had shorted out. It's weird that it would turn over but I had a short in the battery, I put on the charger it charged in about 5 seconds, anyway replaced battery, hooked it up all shorts went away. I think the shorts had something to do with the security system. Anyway no more shorts and the car runs great. PCM checks out and is working, so I will see how it goes. Thanks
