hey has anyone tried tighting the reverse nut in the tranny to make it stop slipping like ottjoe talks about ?if so did it work ? and how hard is it to do?

It works if thats what the problem is. If its the valve body then it will not work.

Its not my valve body I changed it already .how hard is it to tightin this bolt?

First it is not called the reverse nut.





You need to replace and tighten the input and output shaft nut. When a bad valve body is left unattended the shaft nut will come loose.


Just a start you do need a tool to keep the shaft itself from turning so the nut can be tightened.





1-Jack the car up as high as possible or use a lift


2-Remove the left front tire.


3-Remove the plastic panal that covers the transmission end cover.


4-Remove the front brake hose mount. Do Not disconnect the end of the brake hose.


5-Remove the transmission cover nuts. Pull the trans end cover out about eight inch's without bending the tubes.


6-With a 21mm socket and the special tool needed to hold shaft in place remove one nut.


7-Replace old nut with a new one and tighten with the same socket and tool


8-Remove the second nut and replace the same way.


9-If your in over your head. Take to the dealer.
