I have a 2000 LW2, with 106,000 miles, a year ago or so, my engine light came on with the little wrench. And with that, when the car would upshift, it would jump. However, the auto repair techs (dealership, my own, and the trans shop) were not able to pull any codes from the car's computer. Eventually I had the transmission rebuilt. However, the exact same trouble continues to happen. The trans shop is totally clueless. Light comes on, generally in stop and go situations, and sometimes going up hills. Unfortuantely it doesn't happen with any regularity. Once a month, than twice a day. If I turn the car off, let it sit a minute, than restart it, the light clears and trouble goes away. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. This is my second Saturn, I have two kids and two dogs, and I love this car!!!

No, not my shop. The Saturn dealership, the family car mechanic, and the screw ups at the trans shop.

I'm not the expert you have at your dealership - but I'm beginning to suspect a problem with the torque converter lockup sequence ...

Would've the transmission place. replaced that part when they rebuilt the transmission?

... they would have, if they had placed a set of pressure gauges on the transmission pressure control ports, and driven it around a bit so the problem would show up. Since the mission of any repair shop is "throughput", and since the tranny is not throwing codes (common with this type of failure), there's a good chance it was overlooked
