I have a 1995 SW-2 with the 1.9 DOHC engine. I am shopping around for a replacement engine. What year 1.9 DOHC's will be a direct drop in replacement? I was looking at a '01 at a local salvage yard but he thought there was a change in '00 that make this engine not compatable.

i have a 95 sl2 and that has a 1.9L dohc the engine has 131k on it and runs perfect the car was smashed in the rear by a guy in a bmw suv. if you want the motor ill pull it for you and ship it email me at stanglov02@msn.com (http://www.stanglov02@msn.com)but if you do go w/ that 01 you will need a hole new computer and egr. mine is a direct drop in

As far as I know the computer problem should be alleviated by using the old intake and egr system. Check to see if the '01 engine and the engine in your car use the same intake gasket. If it does then it should fit. I'm not saying it will but I'd definately check into it.
