did you replace the battery because it went bad? did the condition seem to get better or worse at all?

if when you push started it and it kept running then there is no way your alternator is bad, because the alternator is what kept your car running

It sounds like a bad alternator. The car's ignition systems takes very little power to run. When you push start a car on a drained battery, there is enough for the plugs to fire, but not enough for the accessories. Buy a cheap battery charger. Put a overnight charge on the battery. If the battery is good the car should start up in the morning and all the the accessories should work. Leave the battery charger hook-up while your checking very thing out. Disconnect the charger with everything on. all the lights, fans, wipers, ac, stereo, the car and the accessories will die very rapidly if the alternator is bad. You can also use a volt meter on the battery when the car is running, you should read around 13.5 v if the alternator is putting out. If your reading 12v with the car running, your alternator is bad.

When I'm curious to know if my battery or alternator are bad, I go to
my local repair shop. They have an electronic tester that connects to
the battery terminals to check the charging of the battery. They can
immediately tell if it is your battery or alternator. It takes 5
minutes, and the best part, its free!
