so I blew the motor in my 3000GT VR4 and needed something to ride around in that I wouldn't a. buy performance stuff for and b. I could use the cheap stuff for(fuel/parts).

so after my VR4 exploded my friend called me and said, "Dude I bought a Saturn for my g/f but she couldn't drive it b/c it was a stick." Long story short when he went to buy his 3KGT he drove it to the deal where the guy he was buying the new car from and just parked it. smileys/smiley8.gifhe said if I could start it I could have(150K mi)?! well me being the cheap opportunist bastard that I am I jumped all over it. I jumped it drove it for about an hour to try and charge the battery. No luck. so I took it to Autozone for a charge and VOILA! it held it and the car runs great.

only problem was he trashed the car on the inside(I'm NOT complaining) so I had to clean it and it looks pretty good now. the serpentine belt started squeeling a little so I bought a new 1 and I'm going to try and adjust the tensioner 1st.

i just wanted to join the forum to make sure I keep it on the road as long as possible by learning some of the neuances(sp) of the car. Thanks

Well, that's a good deal.. smileys/smiley4.gif
OL & I had a '97 SL & it just kept going & going.. Course I maintained it v well too..No problems AT ALL till 80,000
then the starter snout cracked, still started but made noise. Got an AM one from NAPA & all was fine again..It was a 5 speed mt & truly got 40mpg..hwy.

10 yrs later we got a '07 Ion 2 w/bunch of options..

Good luck with your '97 SL1
