from reading some postings online, it sounds like my catalytic converter may be going bad. It is a 93 SL2 with 130k and the converter has never been replaced. I get a loud groaning/rattling sound while accelerating. I am trying to find some info on the exhaust system of the Saturn. Is the Cat Coverter a bolt on part for this vehicle, or will I have to take it into the shop to have one welded on?


Anyone else had this done to their Saturn? what kind of $$ am I looking at tho have it done .. or even to do it myself?

it depends on whether you get a direct fit or a universal cat..depending on what you chose,, the price and way that it is installed will vary. if you can get under the car, hit the cat with soemthing like a rubber mallet, or a hammer wrapped in a towel, and listen for a rattle.
